Tribunals Ontario will work with any person to accommodate any personal support services they use to help with communication, mobility, personal care or medical needs. Please note that Tribunals Ontario cannot arrange these services.
If any person requires an assistive device to participate in a hearing or mediation, they should contact the respective tribunal in advance.
Tribunals Ontario welcomes support persons accompanying people with a disability.
Tribunals Ontario has staff at each of its tribunals who are fully informed of this policy and will receive and respond to inquiries and requests for accessibility and/or accommodation. Each tribunal will keep a record of all accommodation requests and action taken. Tribunals Ontario will monitor performance at all of our tribunals on an ongoing basis.
Tribunals Ontario will provide notification if there is a disruption at one of our offices or in services usually used by persons with disabilities. The reason for the disruption will be provided, along with the expected length of time of the disruption and, if alternative facilities or services are available. Tribunals Ontario may not be able to give advance notice if it is an unplanned or emergency disruption.
Tribunals Ontario will provide training to staff and adjudicators on:
Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of staff and adjudicators. Tribunals Ontario will keep a record of all training provided, including the dates of the training and the number of individuals to whom training is provided.
Tribunals Ontario will incorporate accessibility criteria and features when procuring, or acquiring goods, services or facilities. When Tribunals Ontario is unable to incorporate accessibility criteria and features into procurement, an explanation will be provided, upon request.
Tribunals Ontario will provide information to and communicate with individuals in a way that considers their accessibility needs. When requested, information about Tribunals Ontario and its services and case documents, including public safety information in accessible formats or with communication supports will be provided.
